MARTIN NIKLAS WIESER
EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN WITH A THEORETICAL APPROACH

What immediately struck us about Martin was his cultured and knowledgeable approach to garment design and the production process. It wasn’t just about creating a clothing collection, but about giving shape to an idea. The first prototype we worked on was the Waist Blazer featured on the cover: a real technical and creative challenge. Martin’s design required an experimental approach to pattern making. The goal? To create a blazer that looked wrinkled without actually being so. To achieve this effect, we created hidden pleats, carefully designed to produce a visually authentic result, but constructed with sartorial rigour.
None of the pieces in his collection were easy to create. The overall design is unconventional, far from the norm, light years away from fast fashion. Behind every formal choice lies a political reflection. For Martin, a collection can only be considered complete if it is built on two fundamental principles: work ethic and sustainability. For these two reasons, such complex garments can only be developed thanks to the know-how of expert craftsmen, such as those in our team. At the same time, it is precisely this complexity that becomes an act of resistance: the garment protects itself, eludes replication and becomes unique.

Wieser pursues a radical vision of luxury, which he defines as a ‘Working Class Approach to Luxury.’ His garments are all genderless and constructed on unconventional proportions, designed to challenge the rules of the fashion system and restore value to craftsmanship, tailoring, and identity.
This poetic approach earned him the City of Vienna Fashion Award in 2024 and the Munich Fashion Award in the ‘Contemporary Sustainable Fashion’ category in 2025. Discover the entire The Cement Garden collection at martinniklaswieser.com
